The family loves time outdoors, especially in the woods. In the summer we forage for huckleberries. Our son explores the woods, our daughters eats the berries. We all manage to pick a few! A picture of our hands at the end of the first picking of the season is a tradition for us.

When the berries are picked we eat some fresh, make pancakes and ice cream. The rest go into the freezer.

Now as the winter is coming to an end it is time to empty the freezer. So this week I made huckleberry jam. Of all the preserved food on the farm this is one of my favorites. One of the only projects that involves every single member of the family…. oh and it is delicious!!!
